We are glad that you are interested to have a relationship with Jesus! The good news is that God desires to have a relationship with you too!
First, you need to understand that God is Holy (Isaiah 6:3) and He wants us to be holy like Him (1 Peter 1:15-16).
But, all people are unholy because of our sins (Romans 3:23). As sinners we deserve the punishment for our sins which is death (Romans 6:23).
Still, God loves us and wants to have a relationship with us. So He made a way. That way is Jesus Christ, His only Son (John 3:16). In Jesus, God became human and lived a perfectly holy life. Then, on the cross, He took our sins upon Himself and died in our place. His sacrifice has taken away all our sins (1 John 2:2). With our sins out of the way, Jesus made it possible for us to be holy and be in a relationship with God!
To start this relationship, humble yourself before God and pray sincerely:
- Acknowledge that God is Holy
- Accept that you are a sinner
- Repent by confessing your sins to God (Mark 1:15)
- Believe that you are saved only by faith in Jesus and in what He did for you (Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8)
