Sermon Text: MARK 13:24-27
Sermon Series: UNTIL HE COMES: THE KING PREPARES A WATCHFUL CHURCH
By: PTR NIC SY
Mark 13:24-27 NIV
“But in those days, following that distress, “ ‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ “At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.
SERMON NOTES
I. WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT (Mk 13:24-25; Isa 13:9-10; Joel 2:10-11,31; Zep 1:14-15)
The Day of the Lord is the moment God says: “Enough.”
Reflect: What am I leaning on right now?
Don’t anchor your life to what God has already scheduled to shake. Instead, anchor your life to the One who never will.
II. WHEN THE KING SHOWS UP (Mk 13:26; Dan 7:13-14; Rev 1:7)
Reflect: How do I see Jesus now?
If he is the Son of Man who will come in power and glory… then that reality must settle into our everyday life.
III. WHEN HE COMES FOR HIS OWN (Mk 13:27; 1 Thes 4:16-17)
Reflect: Is your faith anchored in the certainty that you belong to him?
Jesus is not coming back for a crowd. He is coming back for you — by name, with an angelic escort, and he will bring you home.
