Sermon Notes:
MARK 6:53-56 NIV84
53 When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret and anchored there.
54 As soon as they got out of the boat, people recognized Jesus.
55 They ran throughout that whole region and carried the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was.
56 And wherever he went--into villages, towns or countryside--they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed.
Where Jesus goes, the Kingdom goes!
As followers of Jesus, we carry his presence with us today. That means wherever we go, the Kingdom goes.
I. JESUS MEETS US EVERYWHERE – EVEN IN THE ORDINARY
“ran”
Greek: peritrechó
“to run through.”
“marketplace”
Greek: agora
“the town-square (as a place of public resort)”
The Kingdom doesn’t wait in the church for people to show up. It moves with Jesus into the streets.
II. JESUS WELCOMES ANYONE – EVEN WITH FEEBLE FAITH
Superstition believes in magic; faith believes in a Person.
Superstition tries to manipulate God with rituals; faith simply reaches out and trusts him.
MALACHI 4:2 NIV84
2 But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings.
“wings”
Hebrew: kanaph
“edge, border or corner”
Jesus meets us wherever our faith is right now.
Jesus doesn’t wait for perfect faith. He responds to real faith in him, no matter how small.
Faith, even when it’s imperfect, still catches the attention of Jesus.
Faith doesn’t have to be flawless; it just has to reach to Jesus.
III. JESUS WANTS EVERYTHING – NOT JUST PART OF US
It’s possible to experience the mercy of Jesus without surrendering to the rule of Jesus.
Healing is a doorway, not a destination. The true goal is not just a healed body, but a yielded heart.
“heal”
Greek: sózó
“saved, made well, brought safely, cured”
It’s one thing to receive healing from Jesus. It’s another to receive him as King.
Don’t settle for relief when Jesus is inviting you into relationship.
Are we just seeking Jesus’ power, or are we submitting to his Person?
Where Jesus goes, the Kingdom goes!
Where will you carry the Kingdom this week?
