SERMON NOTES
You can’t sail if you won’t lift (let go of) the anchor.
I. THE ANCHOR OF PRIDE
The Kingdom is not achieved; it’s received.
Religion counts achievements; relationship celebrates affection.
Only empty hands can be filled.
Where has pride or superiority anchored you?
II. THE ANCHOR OF SECURITY
The more you clutch your security, the less secure you actually are. Because the moment your security depends on something that can be lost, you’re already living in fear.
We can’t hold on to our anchors and follow Christ’s calling at the same time.
Security is not the absence of risk; it’s the presence of Christ. God doesn’t promise calmer seas but he promises a faithful Captain.
What is your anchor of security?
III. THE ANCHOR OR CALCULATION
Salvation isn’t about what you can accomplish. It’s about what God can do.
God is the one who makes the impossible, possible.
When you follow Jesus, you’re not purchasing blessings; you’re stepping into a new family, a new reality.
The trade is not things for more things. The trade is everything for Jesus.
God’s grace is not a paycheck; it’s a gift. And the moment we start keeping score and calculating, we stop seeing it as grace.
Four applications:
1. Stop keeping score.
2. Surrender the outcomes.
3. Celebrate others’ blessings.
4. Remember your “why.”
Jesus didn’t call us to stay safe at the dock. He called us to catch the wind of his Spirit and follow wherever he leads.
